Sit With Us Founder Night Recap

Community has played a huge role in how my businesses have grown.

Not in a performative way, and not in the “collect business cards” kind of way.

But through real working relationships built over time.

That belief is exactly what inspired our recent Sit With Us founder evening.

The idea for Sit With Us actually came from photographer Liz Zuluaga. Knowing how passionate I am about bringing women together in meaningful ways, she came to me with the concept of gathering a small group of female founders for thoughtful conversation and connection.

It was an immediate yes.

Together, we hosted the evening, bringing together twenty-five female founders for honest conversations about entrepreneurship, leadership, and the realities of building a business.

The room was intentionally small because smaller rooms create better conversations.

The discussions that evening were thoughtful, supportive, and energizing — the kind of conversations that remind you you’re not building your business alone.

Because when women founders sit in the same room, the conversation gets better.

A Founder Portrait Experience with Liz Zuluaga

Liz Zuluaga, the photographer who created the Sit With Us concept, is also offering a beautiful experience designed specifically for founders and women building their brands.

Her Founder Portrait Sessions create elevated imagery that reflects the person behind the business.

These portraits are ideal for entrepreneurs who want polished brand imagery for their:

• websites
• speaking engagements
• press features
• social media

The sessions are designed to capture women in a way that feels natural, confident, and aligned with their professional identity.

A Conversation from the Podcast

If you’d like to hear more about this topic, I share deeper insights in Season 2, Episode 2 of the Beyond Bridal podcast.

In the episode, I talk about the role the community has played in building my career and why it continues to matter today.

One of the ideas I share in the conversation is this: “Talent might open the first door, but relationships are what keep the doors opening.”

The rooms you choose to sit in — and the people you build alongside — shape the trajectory of your career in ways you often don’t realize until much later.

Conclusion

Today, my business looks very different than it did in the early years.

But the foundation remains the same: do excellent work, treat people well, and build relationships that last.

In industries like weddings and beauty, the community you build often shapes the direction of your career.

Because the rooms you choose to sit in, and the people you build alongside, matter more than we often realize.
